Three American hostages Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansell were rescued and late Wednesday they were back in US at the Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio.
The three men were being held in February of 2003 after thier plane-survelliance plane went down in the jungle. They were rescued after spies managed to trick the guerillas into giving them three soldiers, as well 14 others including former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancort, who had been held for six years. She was currently reunited with her children in Bogota.
The men seemed healthy, but were taken to the Brooke Army Medical Center to examine them and undergo tests. They will also be reunited with their families just in time for the July 4th holiday. Today, will be the first time thier families will be able to speak to them after five years.
